The Caverns of Cynder
A fiery dimension of lava and ash, the burning Caverns of Cynder are home to many dark and ancient evils, imprisoned within! But there are also treasures to be found, gold and priceless artifacts pulled from across space and time to fill the vaults of Cynder, and the pockets of any traveler bold enough to seek them out!
While exploring the Caverns of Cynder, Heroes will encounter all manner of tormented spirits, shadow creatures, burning pits of magma, and deadly Lava Men.
They must navigate the environment carefully to avoid getting burned by the lava, while finding ancient, and sometimes cursed, treasures from across all of space and time.
The Floor Is Lava!
The cavern walls of Cynder are bare rock and hardened lava, while the floors are pooled or flowing magma with occasional paths of solidified crust that is hot to the touch, but usually stable enough to walk on. Pathways and bridges are cut into the rock, and dark temples have been built in tribute to ancient gods with massive chains, burning runes, and gothic statuary standing watch for countless ages, passing judgement on any who cross into their domain.
Only the worthy will pass the judgement of the ancients and move through this realm of fire unscathed!
Due to the intense heat from the open lakes of fire and lava, just traversing through Cynder can be physically exhausting. As noted on the World Card, at the start of each Hero's Activation, they automatically take 1 Hit for every Clothing Item they currently have equipped.
In addition, the brutal heat and tension in the air raises the Heroes' adrenaline, allowing them to perform feats that might be difficult under normal circumstances. Because of this, all Heroes in Cynder are considered to be +1 Max Grit.

Some of the Map Tiles in Cynder include
special Lava Spaces that can be dangerous
for Heroes to traverse. These spaces have
a glowing yellow border and a dodge
number in one corner of the space (3+,
4+, etc).
When a Hero enters a Lava Space, they
must roll a D6.
If the roll is equal to or greater than the dodge number
listed in that space , the Hero avoids the Lava and is safe. If the roll is less
than the dodge number listed, the Hero is burned by the Lava
and immediately takes D3 Burning Markers.

Burning Markers represent a model either
catching on fire or being spattered by magma and
continuously burned by the effect. When a model has one or more Burning Markers at
the start of its Activation, one of those Burning Markers is
removed and the model takes 2 Wounds, ignoring Defense.

From time to time, bursts of concentrated Hellfire erupt and scorch everything in their path.
When this happens, a Hellfire Marker will be placed on the board and then 'Bounced' one or more times, just like thrown Dynamite, to show the unpredictable nature of the flames.
Once a Hellfire marker lands in its final space, any model in that space takes 1 Hit that does 2D6 Wounds.

As lesser demons from the fiery pits of Cynder, Hellfire Succubi are dispatched to new worlds, led by wicked Hellfire Witches, masters of the dark art of Shadow Magik.

Cynder is home to many ancient evils, imprisoned within. These malevolent beings have been banished to this world, or constructed from dark Magik and formed out of the lava itself. These brutal beasts emerge from the pits to assault intruders and thieves!

XXL Beli'al Last of the Shadow Kings
Banished eons ago, the Last of the Shadow Kings, Beli'al, was imprisoned for his treachery in the fiery hellscape of the Caverns of Cynder! He seeks to break his chains and escape his eternal prison. Sitting atop his magma throne, Beli'al feeds on the souls of the damned to gain strength that will allow him to rise once more!

Flesh Stalker and Flesh Drones
The Flesh Stalker is one of a mysterious and ancient alien race. They work in the shadows, only emerging when required to accomplish their fiendish goals! Flesh Stalkers splice the DNA and body parts of various creatures and people together, creating hideous Flesh Drones to do their bidding.

Hell Vermin
Once simple rats, the Hell Vermin have grown deformed and twisted by the raw evil of the Darkness. Their fangs drip with shadow and hate, corrupting those that are bitten, while their bodies mend even the most grievous of wounds. Only from the pits of Hell could such fiends be spawned!

Magma Fiends
These small creatures attack in swarms, chewing through rock to create new channels and pathways, and regurgitating it as molten magma! With shells of hardened iron, the Magma Fiends are a nearly indestructible and unstoppable force of nature as they burrow through anything in their path, leaving a trail of burning lava in their wake!

XL Magma Giant
Rising up out of the burning pools of fiery magma that fill the Caverns of Cynder, these gargantuan creatures are made from molten rock. Towering over the other inhabitants of their domain, the Magma Giant smashes everything in sight with its burning fists and hate-filled rage!

Temple Dogs
Massive beasts, the Temple Dogs stalk the halls of the Forbidden Fortress, sniffing out intruders and ripping them apart with their meaty clawed paws and iron jaws! Made of stone and animated by dark Magik, the Temple Dogs can withstand an enormous amount of punishment before they even begin to crack or crumble.

These are Enemies that raid through Gates to invade new worlds and dimensions outside their own reality. Each comes with a selection of Threat Cards for a variety of OtherWorlds, including Cynder.
